Of course, my life isn't all work (though more of it is than I'd like at the moment). When I'm not working on for-pay projects, as it were, I tend to blow off steam by writing simple software that performs a fairly diverse range of functions. Most of it is released under open source licenses.

This website, of course, is one of the largest and longest running, but there are others. Those I deem release-ready, can be found below.

NaNoWriMo 2006

NaNoWriMo is a yearly event in which individuals from around the world attempt to write a 50'000 word novel in one month, namely, the month of November. The official site explains it much better than I can.

To help any other novelists that happen across these pages, I have provided a download of an icon that indicates how many words you have written (drawn directly from the NaNo databases, yay for XML API). All it requires is a webserver that supports PHP and the GD extension (used to mangle images on the fly). If you think you can satisfy those conditions, or just want to try it out and see what happens, the code can be found here. The documentation, such as it is, can be found at the top of the php file within that archive.
